Fish on

Welcome to
Gulfport Charters

We are a specialized team of experienced captains focused on deep-sea trips in search of that once-in-a-lifetime catch. Prize pelagic and bottom dwelling fish, which is another way of saying big fish is the name of the game.

Whether you're visiting for the weekend or you're a tried and true Florida native, our captains have been fishing these waters for a combined 30+ years and are dedicated to surpassing your expectations on every single charter.

Before your charter you tell your captain what you want to focus on, and they build a plan to maximize your time on the water. Or you can just show up.

Your ride

Built for the long run

Every charter runs on a 35' Contender with twin Mercury Verados.

The 35' Contender on twin Mercury 400s tied up at Mariner's Cove

It gets you to the spots right when the fish start to bite. There is comfortable seating for the entire group on the ride out and back, and still plenty of room for everyone to fish once we shut down. Custom MarineMat decking is soft on your feet and easy on your back, which matters more than you think on a full day offshore.

Captains who prepare for your day

Our captains take the time to prepare for each charter so our patrons catch their dream fish. Thirty-plus combined years on this stretch of water.

Capt. Tyler Kapela
10 yrs local

Tarpon King of Tampa

Capt. Tyler Kapela

Tyler is known for hooking multiple fish at once on a single charter, which is exactly as chaotic and as fun as it sounds. He has worked the St. Petersburg area for ten years, has been featured on his Discovery Channel show "Discovering Water," and fishes as a member of the Pelagic Pro Fishing Team.

Capt. Nathan "DJ" Cain
20 yrs local

Twenty years on this water

Capt. Nathan "DJ" Cain

DJ has fished these local waters for over twenty years and carries the kind of area knowledge you cannot shortcut. Filling the cooler with redfish and trout or hunting a trophy tarpon, he has a plan for the day before you step on the boat.

A few days that went the way they were supposed to.

A charter group behind the day's spread of red snapper at the dock

A trophy mutton snapper held up on the deck
A cleaning table lined with kingfish and snapper

What to expect

Before you step aboard

Anything we haven't covered, call +1 (727) 697-7626.

Water, food, towels and sunscreen. All bait, tackle and equipment is provided by Gulfport Charters. One rule we hold firm on: no spray sunscreen on board.

Full-day offshore charters meet at the marina at 5AM. Custom charter departure times are set with your captain during planning.

Cancellations within 7 days of the trip forfeit the deposit. If we cancel for weather, or the captain calls it for any reason, you are not penalized — pick a makeup date or take a full refund.

Yes. That said, these are long days in the Florida elements. We don't recommend them for young children, elderly adults, or anyone with pre-existing conditions.

Please do. Before your charter you tell your captain what you want to focus on and they build a plan to maximize your time on the water. Or just show up and let us run it.

Dates go fast in season

We're not satisfied until you're hooked.

Tell us when you want to go and what you want to catch. A captain answers personally, usually the same day.
