Greater Tampa BayStart on the Gulf side, not in the bay
Tampa, Brandon and Clearwater anglers: leaving from Gulfport means the day begins where the offshore run begins.
The thing that costs a Tampa Bay offshore trip its best hours is transit. Leave from a dock inside the bay and a meaningful part of the day is spent just getting out of it. Gulfport sits on the Gulf side of the Pinellas peninsula, so that hour goes into fishing instead.
That matters most on the formats we specialise in. The Middle Grounds run, the deep drop trips and the overnights are all decided by how much water you can cover, and every hour saved at the front of the day is an hour further west.
We fish for what the Gulf actually holds out there — red snapper under a federal permit, gag and red grouper, amberjack, hogfish on the hard bottom, and pelagics like wahoo, kingfish and blackfin when they show. Greater Tampa Bay is a big market of inshore guides; this is the other kind of day.
